Joe Chao

Mr. Chao joined TOPTEAM in October 2019. He primarily handles patent drafting and prosecution for Taiwan, China, Europe, and the United States, and has extensive experience assisting clients with patent matters involving artificial intelligence and software-related technologies.
 
Mr. Chao currently serves as the Technical Lead of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Patent Team. In this role, he oversees the technical analysis and drafting strategies for AI-related patent applications and contributes to developing the firm’s expertise in artificial intelligence patent practice. His technical areas of focus include artificial intelligence and machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), data science and algorithms, as well as software and information engineering. He is particularly experienced in handling patent inventions involving machine learning and AI system architectures.
 
Prior to joining TOPTEAM, Mr. Chao worked in the software industry in roles related to data analytics and product management. He also participated in technology development and was named as an inventor on a patent, which provides him with practical insight into software and AI development processes as well as the intellectual property protection needs of technology companies.
